While some industries have made strides toward greater gender parity, the challenges remain significant, particularly in maintaining female employment during economic downturns.
The gender differences in layoffs during 2023 and 2024 reveal a significant impact on female workers across various industries, particularly those that traditionally employ a higher proportion of women.
In 2023, women’s representation in the workforce saw notable declines in sectors such as Consumer Services, Accommodation and Food, Agriculture, and Wholesale. This trend, evident since 2020, suggests a broader pattern of decreasing female employment in these areas. Conversely, industries like Technology, Information, and Media showed some improvement in female representation, although the gains were modest and often did not offset the declines in other sectors.
Moreover, women continue to be underrepresented in senior leadership roles. In 2023, women held only 32.2% of senior leadership positions, significantly lower than their overall workforce representation of 41.9%.
We connect emerging photographers, aspiring photojournalist and visual storytellers from every city of the world to document humanity and make a difference by raising awareness about global issues and empowering NGOs.
Participants share one photo per hour during twenty four hours. On one single day we get to see the world from a different point of view, humanity documented by local photographers.
Through the 24HourProject’s mission, values and global exhibitions, the project reaches millions of individuals annually showcasing the human connection of images and real live stories.
I am into Music, Photography, Fine Arts, Literature, Sociology, Mindfulness, Personal Growth, Nutrition & Crossfit. Friends and Family are crucial... just like Grit, Wit and Kindness. I truly believe that ¨Sharing is Caring¨.
I have worked in a global scale for high profile clients in the music and entertainment industry in Marketing, Digital Marketing and Sales & Streaming. After being hit by Layoffs in May 2024, I tackled a 100 Hour Silent Meditation/10 Day Retreat (it was very enlightening!). Now, I want to focus my 24 Hour Project participation this year on female -including identifying as- street portraits. I will give it a full 24 hours, and I Hope that some of you will be keen on joining me. Thank You!
There are no costs associated with those being part of the project. I am doing this as part of the 24-Hour Project challenge to give more visibility to the economic turndown's impact on female employees. It´s not just the work we do, but also the work we can´t do if we go unemployed. The portraits can show faces or be artistic takes on the work of women (shoes, bags, shadows, backs, etc) and it will be posted in the same 24 hours on socials the day goes by.
I will take photos of women from all ages and backgrounds. If you have been part of the layoffs in the last year and you want to participate, fill the form and I will reach out. Portraits can include faces, but also can be more artistic approaches (while we all speak of how isolating the experience is, I also understand it can be hard to show our vulnerability).
